Product overview (general information)
Phagyo bacteriophage is a mixture of sterile filtrates of bacterial phagelysates specifically active against five major pathogenic bacteria. The liquid bacteriophage is a transparent preparation with yellow coloration of various intensity, distributed without prescription.
Manufacturer: JSC "Biochimpharm"
Composition & pharmacological action
Active phage components (each ≥ 10⁵ per ml)
- Bacteriophagum Streptococcus
- Bacteriophagum Staphylococcus
- Bacteriophagum E. coli
- Bacteriophagum Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Bacteriophagum Proteus
Pharmaceutical form
Sterile liquid in 20 ml bottles, for oral administration, local and external use.
Pharmacological action
Bacteriophages are specific bacterial viruses that are adsorbed on the homological bacterial cell membrane, penetrate into the cell, multiply and cause its lysis. The composition of Phagyo is selective, containing only virulent phages which ensures high activity and effectiveness.
Antibacterial efficacy is based on specific lysis ability of pathogenic bacteria in the infection site. Regardless of administration route, bacteriophage products enter the blood and lymph, reach the infection site, and are excreted mainly by kidneys and partially through the gastrointestinal tract. The product also stimulates the patient's immune system and is efficient in treating diarrheal diseases in immunocompromised patients.
Bacteriophages are strictly specific towards homological bacteria and therefore don't suppress human normal flora and are absolutely safe for human cells.
Activity spectrum & therapeutic applications

Dosage & usage information (informational)
The following information is provided for general informational purposes only and reflects usage descriptions supplied by the manufacturer. Dosage and application should be determined by qualified professionals based on individual circumstances.
Quick orientation: Treatment duration is typically 5-10 days. One of the most important conditions is to determine phage sensitivity of microorganisms causing disease. Use immediately after opening and store opened vials in refrigerator.
General usage principles
- Determine phage sensitivity of microorganisms before treatment
- Treatment efficacy depends on use at initial stages of disease
- Administer as soon as possible directly to site of infection
- Shake vial before usage
- Content must be transparent and without sediment
- Do not administer turbid preparation
- After usage, store opened vial in refrigerator (do not freeze)
- Treatment duration: 5-10 days
Common application routes (informational)
- Internal use: Oral, rectal (enema)
- Local application: Rinses, irrigation, washing
- Cavity introduction: Wound, abscess, peritoneal cavity, pleural cavity, nose, sinuses, otitis media, bladder, uterus, vagina
Application methods by condition (manufacturer-style informational)
Infected cavities (abscess, wounds):
- Administer after emptying abscess and drainage
- Quantity must be lower than abscess taken from cavity
- Next days: administer through drainage once daily for 3-5 days
- Quantity depends on size of damaged site
Cystitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis:
- Take internally
- If bladder or renal pelvis drained: 20-30 ml into bladder twice daily, 5-10 ml into renal pelvis
Purulent-inflammatory gynecological diseases:
- 5-10 ml into cavity of vagina/uterus once daily
Ear, nose, throat diseases:
- 2-10 ml, 1-3 times daily
- Used for rinsing, washing, or turunda insertion at disease site for 1 hour
- For purulent tonsillitis: use for rinsing and oral administration simultaneously
Stomatitis and chronic generalized periodontitis:
- Mouth rinse 3-4 times daily at 10-20 ml
- Soaked turunda administered into periodontal pockets for 5-10 minutes
Intestinal diseases, IBS (dysbiosis):
- Administered orally and by enema
- Oral: 1 hour before meals
- Enema: once daily, evening, before bedtime
Recommended dosage overview (informational)
| Age group | Oral administration | Per rectum (enema) |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 6 months | 5 ml × 1 per day | 10 ml × 1 per day |
| 6 months to 1 year | 5 ml × 2 per day | 10 ml × 1 per day |
| 1 to 3 years | 5 ml × 3 per day | 20 ml × 1 per day |
| 3 to 8 years | 10 ml × 2-3 per day | 30 ml × 1 per day |
| More than 8 years | 20 ml × 2-3 per day | 40 ml × 1 per day |
