Product overview (general information)
Pyo bacteriophage is a mix of sterile filtrates of phage lysates. The liquid bacteriophage is a transparent liquid with yellow to light brown coloration of varying intensity.
Activity spectrum (general)
This product is described as causing specific lysis of the following groups (general informational reference):
- Staphylococcus aureus (titer no less than 105 ml-1)
- Streptococcus spp. (titer no less than 104 ml-1)
- Escherichia coli (different serotypes) (titer no less than 105 ml-1)
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa (titer no less than 105 ml-1)
- Proteus spp. (titter no less than 105 ml-1)
Inactive ingredients: Bacterial growth media, standard sodium saline. Chinazolin as a preservative.

- Local application using phage-soaked dressings/bandages
- Application into cavities (e.g., wound cavities, abdominal cavity, pleura, abscess cavities, nasal cavity, urinary bladder, uterus/vagina)
- Oral administration
- Rectal administration (enema)
- Administration via catheter/probe where applicable
Example volumes & frequency (manufacturer-style informational)
- Local use: typically up to three times daily for 3–5 days; quantity depends on the affected area.
- Cavity applications (e.g., abscess, pleuritis, arthritis, peritonitis): 50–200 ml into the cavity every other day (context-dependent). Extract pus prior to instillation.
- Bladder/kidney context: may be administered by catheter and/or orally (context-dependent).
- Gallbladder context: 30 ml by probe every other day (context-dependent).
- Stomach surgery or peritonitis: 100 ml in cavity daily for 3–4 days; if through catheter: 30 ml daily for 3–4 days (context-dependent).
- Deep pyoderma: intradermal use 0.1–0.5 ml per injection, up to 10 injections in 24 hours (context-dependent).
- Ocular context: 2 drops per eye, 4–6 times per day for 3–5 days (context-dependent).
- Neonatal skin/umbilical context: phage-soaked bandage twice daily for 5–7 days (context-dependent).

- Alcohol during treatment with bacteriophages is not recommended (manufacturer-style note).
